Surely not another web developer…?

Well…erm, yes. But I like to think I bring a little respect to the world wide web. I was a developer in several companies over a period of years and eventually when the market completely fell apart in Northern Ireland I left the world of IT. Or so I thought. I’ve tried to keep up to speed with technology and I regularly pick the brains of my big brother who is still in the game and has been for ever. He got me into WordPress – he actually has quite a good blog on the industry by all accounts – check it out at simondickson.wordpress.com.

Anyway, I do the odd bit of freelance when I’m not out fighting fires (my real job). I got back into it when I found out that there are some people out there who are quite happily ripping people off by building useless websites, giving duff advice and charging a fortune for the privilege. My ethos is to keep the whole process of making a website for someone as simple and easy-to-understand as possible. I explain things as I go and generally try to keep customers well-informed – even if they are complete technophobes.

My website is at www.garethdickson.net – all the blurb is there along with some examples of work. Be kind – I’m not a designer, I do the clever stuff behind the scenes…
